Character Information
*Character Name: Wreck-Gar
*Character Canon: Transformers Generation 1 cartoon
*Age: Adult
*Race: Junkion
*Timeline/Pull Point: Wreck-Gar is coming from a point just prior to episode 94, “the Return of Optimus Prime,” with his last appearance prior having been “The Dweller in the Depths,” episode 87.
*History: Note: I’m incorporating the short story “Collect and Save” from the Transformers: Legends novel into Wreck-Gar history, since nothing in it directly contradicts anything after)
The exact origin or nature of the Junkions is unknown, but given their similarities to the Transformers, as well as their ability to transform, it is possibly they are descended from Autobots who fled Cybertron during one of the earlier Great Wars. Nor is it known under what circumstances Wreck-Gar became their leader, but that is the position he held by 2005.
Some undetermined amount of time before the Junkions first encounter with the Autobots, a group of mechanoids called the Recyclons attempted to recycle the Planet of Junk. Wreck-Gar attempted to make contact with their leader, Salvage, but was repulsed, and later duped by him. In the end, however, Wreck-Gar led his people in repelling the Recyclons—violently.
By the year 2005, however, the Junkions and Wreck-Gar were quite happy on their little world, though now quite distrustful of outsiders. When the Autobots crash landed on their world, they were prepared to attack. When the Decepticons pursuing them appeared, however, Wreck-Gar instructed his people to wait and see. Following the “death” of Ultra Magnus, Wreck-Gar led his people in an attack on those Autobots, interrupted only by the arrival of Hot Rod, Kup, the Dinobots, and Wheelie. Hot Rod’s use of the Universal Greeting and offering of energon placated the Junkion leader, leading to a quickly forged friendship with the Autobots. Wreck-Gar directed the repair of Ultra Magnus and revealed the existence of a Junkion spaceship, joining in the fight against Unicron. Though the ship was badly damaged by Unicron during the battle, Wreck-Gar and his people survived. Following the Autobots reclamation of Cybertron under the leadership of Rodimus Prime, Wreck-Gar entered into an alliance with Cybertron, and then returned to the Planet of Junk.
Later that year, Wreck-Gar would come to the rescue of several Autobots on Goo Asteroid, again demonstrating his people’s phenomenal repair skill in fixing Springer. Whether or not it was simple coincidence that he was monitoring transmissions from Goo, or if the Junkions also maintain some control over Goo and its associated asteroids in unknown.
Wreck-Gar was later captured by a Quintesson scientist, alongside Ultra Magnus, Cyclonus, and Marissa Fairborn, for study. Placed into a completely barren and clean room, he proved the Quintesson’s projection that the cleanliness would drive him mad by creating his own junk by stripping material from the walls. Working together, they were eventually able to overcome the Quintesson (but not before they fell into a space anomaly).
When next seen, Wreck-Gar was responding to an attack on another Goo asteroid and contacted the Autobots for help, eventually traveling with Kup, Wheelie, Blurr, Grimlock, and Sky-Lynx to the planet Dread, where he helped to battle the Decepticons and free the mechanoids imprisoned there.
Sometime later, the Junkions became more invested in the galactic community, trading energon for scrap or other materials, working with numerous traders, including the former Decepticon, Octane.
Wreck-Gar later accompanied Blaster, Blurr, and Perceptor on a mission in deep space that encountered a temporal anomaly. Thrown back into the past to the days of the Quintesson occupation of Cybertron, Wreck-Gar and the others were instrumental in providing the fledgling Autobot rebellion with the support needed to buy time for Alpha Trion to return from the future. Wreck-Gar and the others were then able to go back… to the future!
His true starring role, however, came when a Quintesson journal landed on the Planet of Junk. Wishing to keep it out of anyone’s hands, the Quintessons dispatched Sharkticons to retrieve it, but the beasts were repelled by Wreck-Gar and the Junkions. Deciding to switch to more subtle methods, the Quintessons attempted to brainwash the Junkions by interfering with their television signals, turning them extremely aggressive to Autobot and Decepticon alike. What the Quintessons hadn’t counted on was the Junkions deciding to share the signal with the rest of the galaxy, creating numerous outbreaks of violence. With the assistance of the Autobots, the Junkions were returned to their true nature.
Wreck-Gar was later present on Cybertron when the Quintessons released the Trans-Organics they had sealed within the world. He would be transformed into an energy vampire, courtesy of the Trans-Organic known as the Dweller, but was eventually returned to his usual self.
*Personality: Wreck-Gar’s age is impossible to determine, but his overall maturity level places him as an adult Transformer; he takes his responsibilities to his people and their safety very seriously, and is equally protective and loyal to those he considers to be his friends. He’ll gladly throw himself into danger to protect others, putting their safety before his own. He seems to feel a special kind of affection for the female Junkion called Nancy. He is especially protective of humans, since they created television.
Wreck-Gar possesses a small xenophobic streak, being initially wary of outsiders, as witnessed by his reactions to the Recyclons, Autobots, and Decepticons. However, if that initial moment passes, there are few more dedicated and loyal. Once placated by Hot Rod and the others, Wreck-Gar gladly stood beside the Autobots. This same trustworthy streak can be used against him, as Salvage was briefly able to gain his trust through friendly actions before betraying him. But the cost of this betrayal was swift vengeance.
In general, however, Wreck-Gar is a gregarious, friendly sort.
Wreck-Gar speaks in a most strange faction, mixing straight up quotes from Earth television with quotes that have been modified to the situation at hand. He is capable of speaking normally, though he does so very rarely (such as when he informed Hot Rod and Kup that “We talk TV! You talk some TV?”).
Wreck-Gar can be easily fooled, however, particularly if TV is involved.
*Powers/Abilities: Wreck-Gar is physically very strong, able to engage Springer in armed combat and keep the triple-changer on the defensive. As a Junk motorcycle, Wreck-Gar can reach speeds of up to 160 mph and his spiked tires provide for almost perfect traction across a variety of surfaces. He carries a powerful axe, a decelerator pistol (which slows down its targets cerebral functions or can be used as a traditional laser pistol), and a spiked shield (formed from one of his vehicle mode tires. It can also be fired off his arm). Wreck-Gar does not change sizes when converting to vehicle mode and thus can be ridden by other Transformers.
Wreck-Gar, like most Junkions, is considerably intelligent, able to build complex machines and repair both technology and other mechanoids using whatever resources happen to be at hand. With a body containing many redundant or variable parts, even when damaged, he is quickly able to effect repairs upon himself.
He is a skilled leader and warchief, having ensured Junkion prosperity for a great deal of time.
Although sometimes annoying to his allies, Wreck-Gar’s unconventional speech and mannerisms can also work to confound his enemies.
His knowledge of Earth pop-culture is extensive.
*Inventory: Wreck-Gar will be bringing his weapons (noted above), with him.
*Starting Polarity: Sounds to me like Wreck-Gar might best fall in with Nexus Prime. Solus Prime also sounds like a reasonably fit to me.
If AU, how does your character differ from canon?: (Non AU apps may ignore this question. CRAUs and OAUs should get in to specifics here regarding what changes there are from their character's original canon. We'll need at least a paragraph explaining details.)

*First Person Sample:
Consider if you will, the following situation: Wreck-Gar, leader of the Junkions and ally to the Autobots has suddenly found himself on Cybertron. But not the Cybertron he knows, oh no. He’s taken a left at Albuquerque, found that signpost up ahead. Now looking to find his way home and return to his people, he instead finds himself going where no Junkion has gone before, finding new life and a new civilization on a brand new Cybertron.
In a world like new—that’s a money back guarantee—one cannot help but wonder who controls the horizontal and the vertical? And, can one Junkion find his place? To be or not to be, that is the question! For these answers and more, tune into tomorrow, same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel. And see if he can make the leap home.
And that’s the way it was. For a copy of tonight’s broadcast, contact Wreck-Gar on this frequency. Operators are standing by. But act fast! Offer expires, void where prohibited.
*Third Person Sample:
Wreck-Gar tightened his grip on his axe in his right hand, bringing binoculars up to his eyes with his left. His features twisted in a frown as he watched a trio of Decepticons loading up a fourth with technology they were scavenging. “Status report, Mr. Sulu?” he asked the Junkion nearest him.
His aide’s report contained no real new information. For several hours now, the Decepticons had been pillaging technology from his world, his people. He did not know their purpose, nor did he care overmuch. Certainly, he wished them stopped, both for his own peoples’ sake and for the sake of the Autobots, but he did not need to know the specifics in order to do that.
He lowered the binoculars and turned his attention to the warriors he’d brought with him. Nancy was back with the majority of his people, overseeing things in his absence. Good. Not that he doubted her effectiveness as a warrior… but he certainly preferred to have her somewhere safe when things got nasty. “Your mission,” he began, “if you choose to accept it, is to eliminate these stains in no time flat. Four out of five doctors agree the best way to deal with Decepticons is to give them an Excedrin headache number five.”
He pointed his axe. “These Decepticons represent a clear and present danger to our Junkion society! Let us show them that while they may take our lives, they can never take our freedom!”
One of the other warriors blew a bugle in a familiar fashion to anyone who’d ever watched America’s favorite pastime. “Charge!”
One of the Decepticons opened fire, noticing them now. Wreck-Gar hit the dirt, the blast sailing over his head. “Missed me by that much!”
In truth, the battle didn’t take much time at all. The Decepticons were no match for them. They’d taken prisoners, of course, because that was how things were done these days. He turned to one of his warriors. “Call Prime and tell him to come on down. Tell him we have something… veddy interestink to show him.” He certainly hoped they’d nipped whatever plans were going down in the bud…
If the Autobots needed him, he would gladly join in the fray. But not today, he hoped. Spaceman Jack: All Jacked Up was on television tonight.
Final Notes: Probably just a good spot to make mention of the fact that if anyone playing characters from other TV shows is uncomfortable with Wreck-Gar knowing who they are/knowing their show, I’ll be happy to say that he doesn’t.
Wreck-Gar is capable of speaking more normally, if he so wishes, but usually choose not to (and can sometimes substitute television metaphors for actual TV talk, such as threatening to cancel someone or telling Rodimus he’s in danger of losing his timeslot.)

(Note: I’m incorporating the short story “Collect and Save” from the Transformers: Legends novel into Wreck-Gar history, since nothing in it directly contradicts anything after)
Character History: The exact origin or nature of the Junkions is unknown, but given their similarities to the Transformers, as well as their ability to transform, it is possibly they are descended from Autobots who fled Cybertron during one of the earlier Great Wars. Nor is it known under what circumstances Wreck-Gar became their leader, but that is a position he held by 2005.
Some undetermined amount of time before that, a group of mechanoids called the Recyclons attempted to recycle the Planet of Junk.
When last seen, Wreck-Gar attempted to repair the long deceased Optimus Prime, at Rodimus Prime’s request. When the Hate Plague broke out, Wreck-Gar rescued Rodimus from an infected Ultra Magnus, only to be infected himself. He would go on to infect Rodimus, but like all the infected, was cured when Optimus Prime used the wisdom contained within the Matrix to dispel the Plague.
Character Personality: Wreck-Gar’s age is impossible to determine, but his overall maturity level places him as an adult Transformer; he takes his responsibilities to his people and their safety very seriously, and is equally protective and loyal to those he considers to be his friends. He’ll gladly throw himself into danger to protect others, putting their safety before his own. He seems to feel a special kind of affection for the female Junkion called Nancy.
Powers: Wreck-Gar is physically very strong, able to engage Springer in armed combat and keep the triple-changer on the defensive.

First person:
Consider if you will, the following situation: Wreck-Gar, leader of the Junkions and ally to the Autobots has just been cured of the Hate Plague. Now looking to find his way home and return to his people, he instead finds himself going where no Junkion has gone before, finding new life and a new civilization on a brand new Cybertron.
In a world, where peace has come to Cybertron and Autobots and Decepticons live side by side with humans and other creatures, where “Transtechs” control the horizontal and the vertical, can one Junkion find his place? To be or not to be, that is the question! For these answers and more, tune into tomorrow, same Bat-Time, same Bat-Channel.
And that’s the way it was. For a copy of tonight’s broadcast, contact Wreck-Gar on this frequency. Operators are standing by. But act fast! Offer expires, void where prohibited.
